Ms. Renée DeVore, Principal
Ms. Renée DeVore, Principal, grew up in the Northwest. An avid soccer player, she continued her athletic career at Washington State and then moved on to play at Southern New Hampshire University. It was there that she received her B.S. in English Education. Ms. DeVore moved back to the Northwest to begin her teaching career working in a continuation school for three years. She moved to San Diego, where her first teaching position was working with 1st-7th grade Special Education in a non-public school. From Special Education, she moved to a secondary school teaching 7th and 11th grade English. She has developed programs for at-risk students, taught pre-International Baccalaureate, AP/Honors English and AVID. In her last position at Mission Bay High School in San Diego, CA, Ms. DeVore taught AVID, 9th grade English and was the Small Learning Communities Coordinator. She graduated with her M.A. in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.
Mr. Jack Plotkin, Assistant Principal
Mr. Jack Plotkin joins the ESMS team after serving as Assistant Principal at Richmond Street School the past two years. Mr. Plotkin previously taught special education and Spanish I at the middle school level in Palos Verdes. In addition to his middle school duties, Mr. Plotkin is the Coordinator of Student Services for the district, and is responsible for English Learner, GATE, and various special education programs. With Masters degrees in special education and educational administration, Mr. Plotkin is currently working on his doctorate degree at UCLA. Welcome, Mr. Plotkin!
