GRADING POLICY
Grades are determined
by the following Eagle Expectations criteria:
1. Thinking Critically Essays, In-class discussion
2. Integrating Core Knowledge Tests, Quizzes, Projects, Homework
3. Communicating Effectively Class participation and discussion
4. Develop Individually Citizenship, Class participation
Tests, Quizzes and Special Projects ‑ Missing any test, quiz, or special
project results in an "incomplete" for the grading period unless it
is made up in a timely manner.
Homework ‑ Always checked for completeness. Missing 4 or more assignments may result in
detentions or other disciple measures.
Most work can be completed in-class.
Any remaining work must be done as homework and completely finished at the beginning of the class period for full
credit.
Participation ‑ Participation grade is a subjective grade
based on your contribution to the class. This can be both positive and
negative. Your positive contributions to class discussions reflect in maximum
grades. Your negative comments, disruptions and disrespect towards others
diminishes your grade. Use your critical
thinking and effective communication skills to maximize your grade.
Absences and Missing Assignments ‑ YOU are responsible for finding
out about all missing work and making it up. Most assignments will be posted on
my school web page. If you are absent,
this is a good way to find your make-up work.
******
If absent on test day, or collection of an assignment, you must make it up, or
turn it in, within 48 HOURS after
the day you return. You MUST have the absense EXCUSED, either on the PowerSchool or in writing, before you are
issued the make-up assignment. Unexcused
absenses result in a failing grade. If
you are absent the day prior to a test quiz or assignment turn‑in you
WILL take the test or quiz on its scheduled day. Extended absences will be
negotiated.********

Class Rules and Expectations
I .
Be On Time ‑ Have a pass if you
are late.
2. Be Prepared ‑ Have your book,
homework, paper, pen and pencil ready. Bring your book EVERY day.
3. Stay Awake ‑ There is never an excuse for sleeping in class.
4. No Food or Drinks in the Classroom
5. Respect Others ‑ Do not interrupt or
disturb other people in the classroom.
6. No Profanity
7. Always Ask Before Doing ‑ Do not write on the
board, use the computer, etc., without permission.
Other Responsibilities
1. Homework ‑ You will be assigned
work to complete by the end of each class. If you are unable to do this, you
are expected to complete it as homework. Periodically, I will collect it or
grade it in class. You must ALWAYS have your
homework completed and other
material when entering the classroom.
You will not be excused to get material you failed to bring. Be responsible for yourself.
2. Beginning of Class ‑ Everyday you
are expected to be in your seat ready for class when the bell rings. We begin
work immediately. You must be on time to
take a quiz, exam, or assignment collection.
Tardy students must coordinate for other arrangements.
3. Cell Phones/ Electronic Devices ‑
Recently students somehow think they need to bring their cell phones and other
electronic devices to class. School
policy prohibits them in school. If you choose to bring yours to class, it will
be confiscated per school policy. The same applies to all other contraband.
4. Extra
Credit – I allocate few opportunities for extra credit. If you cannot handle, or do, the regular
work, there isn’t much point in doing EXTRA work. Invest your extra credit time into the
regular work.
Be Responsible for Your Actions!
Rule Violations:
Offense 1 Verbal Warning
2 Written Counseling and Assignment
3 Detention
4 Parent, Counselor, Principal, or other appropriate action
to correct your behavior
I
understand the class rules and expectations and agree to abide by them. I
understand my choices and their consequences.
