Course Description:     &= nbsp;    The course begins with solving equations (including a review of

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    the properties of real numbers). Students will then work with linear

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    functions (including writing and graphing equations as well as

systems).  Inequalities with one and two vari= ables will follow. Next,     =

property of exponents, polynomials, and facto= ring will be studied.  <= /span>

Finally, students will cover radicals= which will lead to and extensive

look at quadratic functions.&= nbsp;

There will be an emphasis on preparing for the CAHSEE.

Classroom = Rules:         &= nbsp;    Be Punctual-each student will be = in their seat before the bell rings.

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Be Prepared-each student will hav= e all their materials and

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    completed assignments with them every day.

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Be Respectful-no talking or walki= ng around the class when

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    someone is addressing the class; no disrespectful comments when

Homework P= olicy:        &= nbsp;    Homework is expected to be completed and turned in the following

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    day.  An assignment sheet will be given = out at the beginning of

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    each unit.  If a student misses cla= ss, he or she will be expected to

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    completed that day’s assignment.  Reading and taking notes on the

        &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    next designated section is required.

        &= nbsp;

        &= nbsp; A thorough attempt on every homework assignment is necessary for success=

            =             &nb= sp;         in this mathematics course.

 = ;

Late Work:=         &= nbsp;           &nbs= p; Students must contact teacher about turning late work.
