In addition to the El Segundo High School Athletic Codes, the following additional policies are also in effect for all ESHS Girls’ Basketball players.

Practice:  Practices will be in the north gym (the girls’ gym).

A.     Practice Tardies: In the case of an unexcused tardy, the player will run a set of 17’s after practice for each minute that she was late.  A player can run a maximum of 8 17’s in any one day, the remaining will be made up after the next practice.

B.     Missing Practices:

1.      If the player is going to miss practice, the coach must be informed:

A.     ahead of time

B.     why the player will miss practice

C.     when to expect the player back

2.      If a player is in school, but will miss practice that afternoon because of illness or an emergency, that player or the players’ parent must notify Coach Doering. You may leave a message at the following numbers:

      Doering     School  310-615-2662 #328

Home    310-322-5825

Cell       310-227-6470

3.      If a player is not at school that day and will miss practice, she must notify Coach Doering

C.  Practice Gear:  each player is expected to wear their reversible practice jersey to practice

every day.  Under the jersey they must wear a t-shirt because we change the colors of the

      jerseys throughout practice

Penalty- Any girl who misses a practice without first contacting Coach Doering will sit out the next game.  It is not acceptable to ask someone else to carry a message for you. This is your responsibility and must be carried out by you or your parent

Games  All players are to report to the bus or the gym at the time designated on the team bulletin board.

A.     Game Tardies- Same policies and penalties as for an unexcused practice tardy.

B.     Missing Games- A player who wishes to be excused from a game should follow the same procedure as she would for missing a practice session.

Penalty-Unless excused, all players are expected to be at every game.  Please check the 2005-2006 Girls’ Basketball schedule so that there will be no misunderstandings.  If a player misses a game(s), without first being excused she will miss the number of future games equal to the number of games which she missed.  No player will ever be excused from a game so that she can go on vacation.

C.     Away games-  If the team is traveling by bus, all the players must travel to and from the game

on the team bus.  Any exception to this policy will only be allowed in the case of an emergency or some special circumstances.

Playing Time  Any player with a question or concern regarding her playing time must personally speak

with her coach.  I want the players, not the parents, to speak with the coach because they are the ones at practice.

Uniforms         A.  Each player will be checkout a set of home and away uniforms as well as a warm-up shirt.

B.  Each player is responsible taking care of these uniforms and will be charged for any lost or damaged gear.

C.  When participating in a tournament, players should bring both sets of uniforms.

If any player or parent has any questions about the policies stated above or any other questions about our program, you are encouraged to discuss them with me at your convenience.
