RUBRIC SCORING
6(Truly exceptional; A)
The student demonstrates an
in-depth understanding of woodworking concepts and fundamentals. The student has an excellent grasp of
woodworking product design, tool and equipment use and safety regulations. Student work is consistently superior and
transcends most other students in application of skills. The student is always on task, works
independently, is self motivated and works to improve skill, knowledge and
proficiency.
5(Commendable; A-)
The student demonstrates a
solid understanding of woodworking concepts and fundamentals. The student has
an excellent grasp of woodworking product design, tool and equipment use and
safety regulations. Student work is neat
and organized. The student is usually on task, is self motivated and works
quickly and efficiently to complete assignments. Student work is consistently superior.
4(Satisfactory; B )
The student demonstrates a general
understanding of woodworking concepts and fundamentals. The student communicates solutions for most
tasks. Work is complete, usually on time
but contains flaws. Student work is consistently better than average and
demonstrates good awareness of woodworking fundamentals.
3(Proficient; C+ or C)
The student demonstrates a simple
understanding of Woodworking concepts and fundamentals. Work is usually on time but is not always
complete and contains flaws.
The student demonstrates
elementary abilities, indifferent attitudes and basic problem solving
skills.
2(Limited; D)
The student demonstrates a
limited understanding of Woodworking concepts and fundamentals and little
evidence of correct solutions. Work is
not complete, contains major flaws and demonstrates a below average application
of skills. The student does not follow directions and is below average in
personal accountability in the classroom.
1(Minimal; D- or F)
The student demonstrates
little or no understanding of woodworking concepts and fundamentals. Work is usually substandard and demonstrates
a negligible understanding and application of skills. The student disrupts class environment and
does not follow rules and regulations.
