School Board Report
- Chris Powell
The Masons organization will be laying the cornerstone on Wednesday, December
10, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. on the new Science building. Construction is proceeding
on schedule, although there is a slight delay on the Boy’s Gym due to
unforeseen work needed. It was also explained that funding for textbooks used
to be approximately $120 per student, which was allotted by the state. Due to
state budget cuts, this amount has been reduced to $40. Mr. Powell shared
budget concerns as new textbooks need to be adopted as mandated by the state.
Principal’s Report -
Dr. Hart
The Coronation Ball was a success with over 700 students in attendance.
Football and Water Polo have a good chance at playoff positions. Tentatively,
Volleyball will move out of Bay League to Pioneer League next season. Girls’
Tennis will go to the playoffs. Dr. Hart reminded everyone to sign up for List
Server if they have not already done so. The STAR scores were sent out via
e-mail. Our scores continue to rise, with an eleven point gain this year to
755. An area of concern were the Latino students, which showed a decline in
score. Dr. Hart stated this situation would be closely monitored. The
current Sophomore class (class of 2006) will be the first group to require the
exit exam for graduation. Other upcoming events include a late start minimum
day on November 6. Start time 9:20 a.m. The Powder Puff football game will
take place on Tuesday, November 18.
