CRITERIA FOR PLACEMENT

(Must meet 2 out of the 3)

  1. Cumulative Math Course Grade
  2. Placement Exam
  3. Teacher Recommendation

 

CAHSEE Math

2 Year Algebra 1 Program

Algebra 1AB

Geometry

11th/12th Grade Students

Algebra 1A:  9th through 11th  graders only

Algebra 1B:  11th or 12th graders only

9th or 10th graders

 

  • Mandatory for all students who fail the Math Section of the CAHSEE regardless of math placement.
  • Students take this course in addition to their designated math course.

 

Algebra 1A

  1. Incoming 9th graders who do not place into Algebra 1AB
  2. 69% or below on placement exam
  3. Teacher Recommendation

Algebra 1B

  1. 60% or better in Algebra 1A
  1. 80% or better in 8th Grade math
  2. 75% or better on placement exam
  3. Teacher Recommendation
  1. 85% or better in Middle School Algebra 1;

70% or better in High School Algebra 1AB

  1. 70% or better on placement exam.

Pre-Calculus:

  1. 90% or better in Algebra 2;

80% or better in Algebra 2 Honors

  1. 80% or better on placement exam.
  2. Teacher Recommendation

Pre-Calculus Honors:

  1. 95% or better in Algebra 2;

85% or better in Algebra 2 Honors

  1. 90% or better on placement exam.
