6 (Truly Exceptional; A)
The student demonstrates a
rigorous, in depth understanding of language concepts, and a thorough
comprehension of the subject matter. The
student has an excellent grasp and use of idiom and communicates effectively
within the subject matter. The student
consistently and correctly uses verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and
intonation. The student demonstrates a
broad, appropriate use of vocabulary and phrasing and is aware of cultural
elements inherent in language. The
student works consistently to increase knowledge and proficiency and is
self-motivated.
5(Commendable;
A-)
The student demonstrates a
solid understanding of language concepts, and a good comprehension of the
subject matter. The student has a good
grasp and use of idiom and communicates effectively within the subject
matter. The student consistently and
correctly uses verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and intonation. The student demonstrates a broad, appropriate
use of vocabulary and phrasing and is aware of cultural elements inherent in
language. The student works consistently
to increase knowledge.
4 (Satisfactory; B or C+)
The student demonstrates a
substantial understanding of language concepts, and a good comprehension of the
subject matter. The student has an
adequate grasp and use of idiom and communicates effectively within the subject
matter. The student correctly uses
verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and intonation. The student appropriately uses vocabulary and
phrasing and is aware of cultural differences.
The student works consistently to increase knowledge.
3 (Proficient: Answers/Supports; B- or C)
The student demonstrates a
basic understanding of language concepts, and an adequate comprehension of the
subject matter. The student has a
limited grasp of idiom and communicates adequately within the subject
matter. The student may have errors when
using verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and intonation. The student sufficiently uses vocabulary and
phrasing and is aware of cultural differences.
2 (Limited: Answers Only; C- or D)
The student demonstrates a limited
understanding of language concepts, and an inadequate comprehension of the
subject matter. The student is unable to
use idiom and communicate within the subject matter. The mistakes the student makes using verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and
intonation negatively affects communication.
The student has an inadequate knowledge of vocabulary and an inadequate
understanding of the culture.
1 (Minimal: Misses Question; D-or F)
The student demonstrates an
inadequate understanding of language concepts, and an inadequate comprehension
of the subject matter. The student is
unable to communicate the subject matter.
The student does not use verbs, modes, grammar, phonetics and intonation
correctly. The student has no knowledge of vocabulary and lacks understanding
of the culture.
