Grade Levels:   Limited English Proficient students grades 9 – 12 who are assessed as Early Advanced, Intermediate, or Beginning English Proficient per the California English Language Development Test (CELDT).

 

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

Students enrolled in English Language Development work in the state adopted literacy intervention program, Language! Students therein also receive academic support for their mainstream core courses. Students assessed as having Beginning English Proficiency are enrolled in two periods of ELD. Students enrolled in ELD 4 are concurrently enrolled in college preparatory English with support provided in the ELD class.

 

Length:             One Year

Prerequisite:                  An assessment level per the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) of Early Advanced, Intermediate, or Beginning English Proficiency

EVALUATION/GRADING OF STUDENT WORK

1.                  Students will earn a letter grade:

Language! “Tasks for Mastery” tests comprise 60% of overall grade.

Daily assignments (Independent Reading/ Journal Writing/ Listening/ Language! activities) comprise 20 % of overall grade.

Quizzes comprise 20% of overall grade.
