Students will produce the high school yearbook, from start to completion

COURSE OUTLINE AND STANDARDS

Based on ESHS standards

All Eagle Expectations apply to this course (Integration of Core Knowledge; Critical Thinking; Effective Communication; Personal and Social Development)

1.0 The students will devise the theme of the ESHS yearbook

2.0 Students will create the layouts, write the copy, and edit the pages

3.0 Students will sell advertisements to financially support the book and market the yearbook.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS

1. Collaboration among the staff members, with the editors in leadership roles drives the production of the yearbook.

2. This is a student-directed project, with the teacher acting as advisor to make maintain the integrity of the publication and insure that the finished product meets the standards of El Segundo High School.

EVALUATION/GRADING OF STUDENT WORK

1. Assessment is based on student completion of assigned tasks which include writing copy, designing layouts, selling advertisements and editing finished pages.
