Dear Editor:

So good old Mr. Bush is against gay marriage... good for him.

All I have to say, he has no right being against it, or at least have a say in what laws are or are not enforced about gays who want to marry. I think the government should have no say in it. I don’t care if it’s against the bible, Quran or any religion… because not everyone is a bible hugger.

Plus, look at the rate of Christian people who are divorcing, cheating on their spouse, taking money from their family, beating their children, raping, molesting children, committing murder; actually have weapons of mass destruction, blaming others for their own faults.

There are far worse things then gay marriages. And hey, did anyone ever

think that, oh, maybe God, if there is one, created homosexuality for an actual reason? It could be true... lets just follow what a book that was written some 20 thousand years ago or whatever. Maybe the world should go in believing that the earth is the center of the universe... just like the Catholic Church believed until the 1990's, centuries after Galileo discovered that the sun, was the actual center. Galileo also had proof, since he studied the sky night after night, noting down any changes, and even discovered the telescope.

And, if there is a God, and he/she/they/it has a problem with homosexuality, let him/her/them take it up with the gay/lesbians/bisexuals of the world... because, after the bible does say that only God can judge a person in such a way. And yes, I know according to the bible all sins are the same, blah, blah, blah. But having gay's marry isn’t as bad as killing another human.

And for those who say that only people who can reproduce can marry, well there’s something called sperm donors, egg donors, and surrogate mothers, and *gasp* that is reproduction! Plus they can adopt. Gays do not raise gays either; there is no science about that. And there is no reason to say anything like “if two guys raise a daughter she wont have any female influence” because chances are she will have an aunt, a close female friend of the family, and oh, maybe some female friend her own age that might have mothers. The same goes for two women raising a son.

At least two gay people raising a child would be easier then being a single parent. They have each other to rely on. They, in most cases, would have two incomes, and guess what? Gay people may actually take a real look into their relationship, closer then heterosexual people, because they have fought long for their right to marry.

With all that said, there’s still the fact that “every American is equal.” Oh, really? That’s why there are gays who can’t marry (except for a few places). Children are going without health insurance. People can’t get money needed for food when they need it, yet we have imbecile running around with food stamp cards when they are driving new BMWs.

Banning homosexual marriage is like blacks in the 1900’s when we ban black people because they were “different”. Or when we used blacks, and Asians as slaves. It wasn’t correct to do then, and it isn’t now. Oh and don’t think that gay people aren’t physically being harmed for the way they are. Everyone should know the story of Matthew Shepard.... back in the mid to late 90s; he was tied to a fence and beaten to death by classmates because he was gay.

Sorry if this offended anyone. But hey, my thoughts, I have my right to say it. Yeah, I wasn’t saying all Christians and Catholics. I was just using examples from what I have seen in this country. There are some amazing people who live good lives by not telling one lie, cheating, and all that.
