Talent Show 2004
The annual talent show, which ws
produced by Drama Club and the Musical Theatre Department for the past three
years, proved to be a success once again. At the rebirth of the ESHS Musical
Theatre Department in the production of Little
Shop of Horrors in 2002, the
budget was dismal. The talent show was designed not only to showcase the hidden
talent at ESHS, but to raise money for the spring musical. Each year the ballot
and crowd keep getting bigger. This year’s program included 16 acts ranging
from garage bands to dance solos.
The show also included a couple
promotional numbers by the cast of this year’s spring musical GYPSY, and closed
with the Drama Class’ Comedia Del Arte showcase.
The third place winner of the talent
show was Corrine Hongo who played the Taiko Drums with her father. Second place
was taken by the band Scarlet Dream (led by Matt Miltenberger) who sang AFI
songs and truly stirred the audience. The mosh pits down by the stage were a
bit more than the administration had bargained for. And first place went to
Senior Titi Ung who impersonated William Hung from this season’s American Idol singing “She Bangs.” Titi
tore the house down and the audience just couldn’t get enough of his slick
dancing and singing that was backed up by beautiful dancing girls. The auditorium
was quickly filled with chants of “Titi! Titi!” as the audience begged for an
encore.
The evening was hosted by the
charming and witty senior Pat Ory, and was organized by drama club members
Shane Jaqua and Lauren Peters. Drama Club Advisor and Director of GYPSY, Mrs.
Hedayat said, “The audience really was in good spirit and we were very well
supported.” Musical Director Gary Fritzen said there was definitely something
for everyone!”
GYPSY runs May 21, 22, 28, and 29 at
7:30 pm in the high school auditorium and tickets can be purchased from cast
members beginning in May. Come and support the Musical Theatre Department!
