Linkin Park in Inglewood, CA

On Monday March 15, Linkin
Park, P.O.D, Hoobastank, and Story of the Year, served up a killer concert to a
sold out arena in Inglewood, California. After a canceled concert 5 weeks
prior, this was officially the last night of the successful Metora Tour that
sold out arenas around the country. During the show all the bands went out of
their way to express how they felt about the tour and their experiences.
The night kicked off with
Story Of The Year warming up the few but eager fans that decided to show up
early and get their money’s worth. Their hit, “Until The Day I Die” soon began to blast but
unfortunately the majority of concertgoers in the arena seemed to be saving
their energy for the bigger headliners. The band tried to get the crowd riled
up by praising the LA fans, “ Hey I just want to let you know that LA has the best
mother bleeping fans in this whole bleeping world.”
With more people rushing
to their seats, Hobastank took the stage greeting the fans that were just
looking to have a good time. The lead singer started off by giving props to the
other bands and went straight into their first song. The fans were getting
pumped up and soon the Mosh pit began to grow into a flurry of black t-shirts.
As time passed more people began to pour into the arena.
P.O.D was next up, going
straight into some of their past hits such as Alive, Boom and Youth of The
Nation. Ten fans were taken from the crowd and preformed with the band. Other notable materials were fresh off of their new album
entitled “Payable on Death.” Knowing that the show was their last, the lead
singer felt he had to give the crowd in front of him something special. Without
warning Sonny, leaped into the crowd getting into the next song, with
numerous lasers shooting from the stage.
With all three bands
finished with their spot, it was Linkin Park’s turn to end the show with some
style. The lights soon went out on the more than 16,000 frantic fans and for
the next 90 minutes, the band mixed some songs from their multi platinum
albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. During the show, Linkin Park proved why they
are among some of the top rock elite by leaving pools of sweat and raw emotion
on the stage. Today the band has created a wave of music in our lives, writing
and producing songs even parents can’t argue about. Their music is something
any teenager can relate to. The evidence is seen through their lyrics and with
songs full of anger and betrayal it’s easy to get hooked. One song off the
Meteora album states, “So many people like me, put so much trust in all your lies. So concerned
with what you think, to just say what we feel inside…” The hit “One Step Closer” was the last song of the evening and
was joined by members of the opening acts to officially end the concert as well
as the tour. You would think that arenas such as the Great Western Forum would
be a horrendous place to listen to such music but the truth is that every song
sang, rapped or even yelled was heard clearly throughout the arena giving each
fan a memento of a one of a kind event that they would never forget.
