Girls Tennis
Lindsey Paparello, Staff Writer

The girl's tennis has started off with a bad season of losses. The team has not received any uniforms yet but still has prevailed past that setback. One junior tennis player, Elisa Buckner, stated, "Not having uniforms sucks...". With no uniforms and new players there are many bumps ahead for the team. The tennis team has faced a crippling loss at Redondo, 3-15. Although not everybody is downtrodden by this loss, Sophia Manouchery, a junior, stated, "I am really excited about this New Year starting and we did really well during out tournament in West Torrance." And they did, winning two extraordinary matches. Later that week the lady eagles won their game against Morningside but lost against Culver. The Eagles now stand   1-2 in the leauge. There are also many good players this year, such as Pearl Isoko. But strangely there are no seniors on the team this year as well as no team captains.
There may be many obstacles for this team to overcome, but many of the team's players have looked past these and continue to proceed forward by not becoming discouraged by the losses. A new year is beginning for many of the players and at this point it is just a matter of getting adjusted to the situation. The players seem to be optimistic about this year since there are many new additions to the team. Not only is it hard for the team to get over the losses but it is even    harder for them to look back on it as a lesson to learn from. When watching the players practice and some play, the emotion and the effort that went into each player was amazing. They seem to have put sweat and blood into their practicing and games.
There is a saying that goes practice makes perfect and, even though the year has just begun, they have seemed to practice a lot because the players do not seem disheartened one bit. The tennis  team has a good reputation for winning and this year is a very exciting one because of the new experience and the new players coming on board. The players who have been playing tennis for a while are welcoming the new faces and new attributes to the team. Go tennis!
