Saosin

Finally! After such a long wait of anticipation and excitement,
Saosin is finally back with their new self-titled album! After the
release of an EP (2003), Saosin finally decided to release their
first album.
The band's genre is listed as
post-hardcore and emo. Originally from Newport Beach, the band
formed back in 2003, and is signed with record label Capitol
Records. The band's original vocalist Anthony Green left Saosin and
later joined a well-known band today called Circa Survive after the
release of their first EP. Saosin definitely did a great job finding
a new vocalist Cove Reber, because Cove and Anthony sound extremely
similar, especially if you are hearing both bands for the first
time.
After a change of three band members,
Saosin now consists of Cove Reber on lead vocals, Beau Berchell as
guitarist and vocals, Justin Shekoski on guitar and vocals as well,
Chris Sorenson on bass and vocals, and Alex Rodriguez on drums.
Saosin's initial discography consisted of EP's such as Translating
the Name (2003), Translating the Name Acoustic (2003), their
self-titled Saosin EP, and finally their first real album also
self-titled Saosin (2006).
Saosin's current singles include
songs off the EP such as the very well known Bury Your Head
(included on the new album), Seven Years, I Want to Hear Another
Fast Song, also titled Sleepers (also included on the new album),
and the newest addition off the fresh album, Voices. The first and
new album by Saosin is amazing. Even though there isn't anything new
besides their band members, Saosin still has their amazing music
skills. Its as if they didn't even change anyone in the band. The
album consists twelve tracks including a bonus track titled Let Go
Control, which you can get exclusively off of Itunes.
All the songs off the new album are
amazing, and display lots of skill. Alex Rodriguez (drums), is a
highly talented drummer and you can tell by listening to songs such
as Bury Your Head, It's Far Better to Learn, and It's So Simple (an
instrumental). You also hear amazing guitar riffs from guitarists
Justin Shekoski, and Beau Berchell on songs like It's Far Better to
Learn, It's So Simple, Finding Home, Come Close, and Sleepers.
The songs on this album give you such
an adrenaline rush because they have so much energy in them. Song
Follow and Feel starts off the album with energy thrilling guitar
riffs, and drum beats to really get your energy flowing. The current
single Voices also contains awesome guitar riffs, and the bass is
amazing, without the bass the song wouldn't even sound as good as it
does now. Finding Home is somewhat of a power ballad, but it sounds
amazing with the guitar riffs and chants from the band. This whole
album is so good, and there is not disappointment with any of the
songs.
The new Saosin album is a must get. I
deeply encourage everyone who likes post-hardcore, or Saosin's sound
to go out and get the album for an exclusive price of $5.99 at all
Best Buy locations. You won't be disappointed, I know I wasn't. If
you are interested in seeing Saosin live in concert check them out
at the House of Blues in Anaheim on December 19, and 20. It's going
to be a great show that you wouldn't want to miss if you're a Saosin
fan. The band is also having a couple of in-store signings and
performances for free! So find out at www.myspace.com/saosin that
way you won't miss them!
