Boston University

Boston University was originally located in Vermont.  BU, founded in 1839 as a Methodist seminary, was moved to New Hampshire in 1847 before it found its current location in Boston, Massachusetts.  With an endowment of over $712 million dollars, Boston University offers multiple scholarships for those not able to afford the hefty $40026 yearly tuition.  However, the educational opportunities available at Boston University are worth the cost.  80% of all classes have a student to faculty ratio of 12:1 and students are surrounded by exceptional peers; the average SAT score for English and math are 580-680 and 600-690, on a 1600 scale respectively.  Many important people, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., have thrived at Boston University.  Applications are due by January 1.

University of Arizona

Located in the heart of Tucson, Arizona, University of Arizona is one of the top public research institutions in the United States.  Founded in 1885, the loan and land for the university was a consolation prize from Congress.  The legislature gave Phoenix funding for an insane asylum and Prescott was allowed to remain the capital.  Tucson was less than thrilled at their prize, but that feeling soon turned to one of pride.  It has the honor of being one of the 62 members of the Association of American Universities.  University of Arizona offers over 120 undergraduate degrees and has many opportunities for graduate degree. U of A has a high standard for its students; the minimum SAT score is 530 for English and 540 for math on the 1600 scale.  However, compared to other universities, U of A offers an outstanding education for little cost in comparison to private universities.  Out of state students can expect to pay around $23626 per year.  Applications are due April 1 to enroll in the fall 2007 semester.

California State University: Fresno

California State University, Fresno is on of the least known colleges of the CSU system, but offers the most accredited departments out of all of the other Cal-States.  Founded in 1911 under the name Fresno State Normal School, since 1949, Cal-State Fresno has offered advance degrees in many different subjects. With over 250 student organizations, Cal-State Fresno has more to offer than just academics.  The average SAT English score is 400-530 and the average math score was 420-550 on the 1600 scale.
