The Good and The Bad of The New Season: What Went Wrong and What Went Horribly Wrong
by Joshua Newsom

It's the end of November. Some TV shows have set up new plot lines that give the fans something to brag about. But some shows have lost the fire that once gave it the edge over the competition. Let's take a look first at the latter.

The Bad

The OC
- Before you get mad at this show being listed under the category look at the facts. The show has not been good since Ryan and Marissa broke up the first time... in season two. But lately it's just agonizing to watch. Marissa is dead and they attempt to replace her with her "rebellious" little sister, Caitlyn. Horrible mistake. Also, Ryan has no other purpose on the show other than to avenge his ex-girlfriend's vicious death. Also, to hide Summer's pain over her best friend's death, she becomes a tree-hugging hippie who never takes a bath. If the writers were true to the show they would know that Summer would go talk to a psychologist before she ever skipped a bath. Then there's Taylor who was known as the annoying girl from last season but now is the star of the show and the only sane one. Hopefully this is the last season for the show.

Degrassi- Surprise, not anymore. This show has become utterly predictable lately. First you have the love triangle with Emma, Peter and Sean that took three episodes to tell. Everyone knew she would get back together with her knight in shining "wife beater" so why did it take so long to tell? And what about Darcy. Who didn't know that she was going to transform this season out of her nice girl persona into the promiscuous girl who posted her pictures on a blog for what turned out to be a forty year old man? Also, the writers wasted thirty minutes of the viewer's lives by showing how Jimmy and Spinner opening a shirt shop that obviously was going to get robbed. Whatever happened to the good plot lines, like Emma's step-dad cheating on her mom with the school's principal or even the Manny transforming saga. Degrassi…it no longer goes there.

The Good

South of Nowhere- At first I thought this show was going to be a waste of time, but I gave it a chance. First season was good but second is amazing. After Glen, the star athlete of the family, injuries his leg he become addicted to pain killers and even gets busted buying the drugs off the street. Clay, the good doer son, gets his girlfriend pregnant quickly after loosing her virginity to her. Spencer, who is recently accepting her new sexuality, gets beat up after getting caught between a fight at the Gay-straight alliance club table at her school. Ashley's  rock star dad (played by Cece DeVile, guitarist from Poison) dies in a car accident 30 minutes after they celebrate her birthday, and she finds it out on the news. And what's more she finds out she has half sister who she must learn to love if she wants her inheritance. This show is a must see for fans who use to love Degrassi.

One Tree Hill- This shows gets better and better every season. The season starts off with Nathan freaking out because he thought his dead uncle saved his life. Deb's life is threatened by her ex-husband Dan so she is stuck in a phase where all she thinks about is scoring some more pills. Haley finds out she's pregnant the day after she renewed her vows with her husband, which she married at the age of sixteen. And then there's Peyton, who's recently found "half-brother" Derek turns out to be a long time stalker who attempt to take advantage of her in her home. Lastly, Dan gets a mysterious message on his wall from someone who knows that he was in fact the murderer of his brother, Keith. This season is screaming intense and is a must see.
