Kimberly Elisabeth Ip was born on September 14, 1989 at Garfield Hospital near Alhambra, to her proud parents Chong Mi and Roger Ip. From Alhambra Kim and her family moved to San Diego to only move back up to Arcadia. She grew up in this city far from the sea with a schedule that was always filled with piano lessons, ballet, and you name it; she took it. Even with such a full schedule she was still able to be a social butterfly in her hometown. Yet in the summer before freshman year she found out she was moving to El Segundo. When asked about El Segundo and how she felt she replied “[When] I moved here the summer before my freshman year from Arcadia I was really homesick. But after joining the cheer team and meeting new people I came to realize that I have learned more here in the past four years than I have my entire life living anywhere else.” She didn’t know it then but she would make some lifetime friends in this tiny city far from home. These friends who she became closer with include: Claudia Rebora whom she says “Pressured me to do cheer which ended up being a very good thing, the notebook which entertains me in all of my boring classes, and who introduced her self randomly walking from French when it was still in the district; Annie and April her sisters that raised her; Joseph her friend from her Arcadia whom she still is close to this very day; Joshy whom she met on the first day of school when they were both new and now they are “besties” as Kim would say; Britt who will be attending Cal Poly Pomona next year. These people are her close friends and they know her by such names as Kip, Geisha, and Kipper. Now at the end of her senior year Kim is getting ready to leave high school and go to college in Pomona. When asked about going to college next year Kim said “I am looking forward to it and the freedom it brings but at the same time I am really sad to leave behind my friends.” I am sure though she will still do her favorite things which include reading, shopping, and playing on photo booth like there is no tomorrow. Kim is a great person who has grown in the past years I have known her, and I am proud to say that we share some of the funniest memories known to humankind. For example I like the time we were at cheer camp and Hilary Rogers tried to boss cut her in line and I kicked her out of the lunch line. Because that is what friends do. When she is older Kim will be a publisher for she has the determination and the drive. She is one of my best friends and I can’t wait to graduate with her.
