Julie Lodhy
By Vanessa Durand

Julie Lodhy was born on April 26, 1989 in Inglewood, California. As a resident of El Segundo she has made her mark at school, with her peers, friends, and her family. She is easily one to stand out because of her unique sense of self. She is an outstanding daughter, sister, and friend and doesn’t cease to leave people in awe. Throughout her years at El Segundo High School she has grown so much from exposure to life changing situations and discoveries. At eighteen years young she has already established her aspirations and is more than ready to apply them to the real world once she graduates. Julie is looking forward to traveling throughout Europe, specifically to locations such as London, Paris and Sweden. In the fall she will be enrolled at Santa Monica College and plans to transfer to UCLA where she will earn a higher level degree in art. Julie is an amazing artist who has truly gained a great deal of respect for her creativity and imagination. Out of all of her pastimes she lists drawing as number one, followed by listening to music, and driving her chic 2003 Mini Cooper, otherwise known as her “baby”. When asked what her favorite aspect of herself is she stated, “That I can draw and that I’m really different than everyone else. I think that’s what sets me apart from everyone else”. She is excited to graduate and looks forward to growing up, being responsible, and going into the real world. With her family and friend’s love and full support, she should be making one smooth transition. Julie is also equip with a strong belief system and treasures her morals. One that she will always hang on to is her devotion to being straight edge. Her lifetime commitment to staying free of alcohol and drugs is admirable and says she is, “very true to that”. Among her favorite memories about high school are the moments she had making all of her friends and having experience, I can say that she is loyal, selfless and has a huge heart when it comes to the subject. Julie’s favorite people include her two best friends Neelofer Lodhy and Matt Sosebee. She also mentioned that she “likes to give presents” also adding “I like tattoos and going to shows makes me happy.” A hobby and strong passion Julie has is one for music. She states, “Music is a huge part of my life, I wouldn’t be who I am without it”. Her favorite bands include My Chemical Romance and Smashing Pumpkins and considers the singer of My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way a true hero of hers. She describes him by saying “He’s been through so much. He’s changed my life”. With so much enthusiasm, Julie explained how Way made it his mission to change people’s lives and turn a negative situation into a positive experience, and overcoming his obstacles through the power of music. Leonardo Da Vinci is also a person whom Julie admires because of his commitment to art and mastering the human body through paintings. Julie’s favorite subjects in high school have been art and English. She also remembers her favorite book read while in high school, J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye. Julie still wishes Holden Caulfield was a real person. On occasions you can catch Julie watching some of her favorite movies, some of which including Sleepy Hollow, Heavyweights, Back to the Future, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Or you may even catch her reading some of her favorite books such as Dram Stoker’s Dracula, Frankenstein, and Blood and Chocolate. Although it is difficult to choose, some of her favorite teachers throughout high school include, Ms. Mosquera, Larry, and Dr. Gen. Julie Lodhy and has come miles to reach the end of a long road and rewarding chapter in her life, but still has a way to go until she can cross the finish line. However no one is worried about how she will do; she is definitely destined for greatness.
