Things to Look Forward to in 2007
By Kim Keener, Staff Writer
Many
say that 2007 is going to be a year of significant breakthroughs and
changes. A minimum wage raise, technological advancements, great
music, exciting sequels and are some of things expected.
First of all, Arnold Schwarzenegger
passed a new law that raises the minimum wage fifty cents, from
$6.75 to $7.50. This is an exciting change for the high school
students who have jobs, and as for those who already get paid more
than minimum wage, hopefully you'll get a bit more too. In 2008 the
minimum wage will go up to $8.50. Spend that money wisely!
In addition, new technological
developments are scheduled to be released in 2007. Some new items to
look for are the apple iTV ,scheduled to come out in Febuary, a new
Microsoft operating system, more PDA memory, and iPhone. The iPhone
came out on January 9, 2007. Its advanced features like the video,
picture and large memory make the $500 gadget well worth its price.
Unforunately, most of these advanced
developments are quite pricey. Then again they are just coming out,
so it is unrealistic for them to be any lower.
According to many producers and
studios, 2007 is a year of sequels. Watch for new movies such as
Spiderman 3, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ocean's 13,
and Shrek 3. Spiderman 3 picks up where the last one left off;
Spiderman faces an inner battle after he got the love of his life,
Mary Jane Watson. The long awaited Harry Potter and the Order of
the Phoenix portrays the grueling challenges that Harry, Ron and
Hermione face as the ever frightening Voldemort returns with new
threats. Ocean's 13 stars the returning George Clooney and Brad Pitt
and features a new comer to the cast, Al Pacino. Shrek 3 follows
Shrek 1 and Shrek 2 and viewers have high expectations. Overall,
this year will be a year of great film releases.
Good Luck in 2007!
