S
enior Spotlight: STEPHANIE STACEY NG
by Zack Roddy, Editor-in-chief

How does one even begin to describe Stephanie Ng? Not only is she one of the smartest individuals in El Segundo High School, but she is also one of the most genuine and friendly. Stephanie Stacey Ng was born on October 20, 1988 in Torrance, California, but now currently resides in El Segundo with her mother and father, Bertha and Chiu Ng, and her sister Katharine, who graduated from ESHS in 2004. Stephanie's greatest heroes to her are her parents. "My family is definitely the people that I would call my heroes", says Stephanie, "They've sacrificed everything for me, and display all of the qualities I want to grow up to be: compassionate, selfless, and loving. My mother would do anything for me. If I needed anything, she would drop everything she was doing and come to help me. My dad would come home from work late every night and still help me with my homework, making sure I was doing it right."
Throughout her four years here at ESHS, Stephanie has made quite a name for herself in the fields of academics and activities. Not only is she Co-Captain of the Academic Decathlon Team, but she is also a member of the Interact Club, is the team manager for the boy's water polo team, was the President of Advanced Placement Biology Club, and was on girl's water polo for two years. Amazingly, she has been able to juggle her activities along with her academics, which are quite daunting on their own, which includes A.P. Calculus, A.P. Biology, A.P. U.S. History, A.P. Literature, A.P. Economy, A.P. Spanish, A.P. Environmental Science, and LMU Calculus 2courses throughout all four years of high school, and Stephanie is currently ranked number two in the senior class.
When asked what the greatest impact on her life was, Stephanie stated, "Out of school would definitely have to be the piano. I've been playing for thirteen years, since I was five. It's taught me determination and not to give up on anything." She continues with, "My greatest impact in school would definitely be the teachers. Mrs. Clemmer and Mrs. Stucken are the most influential because Mrs. Clemmer has taught me to look beyond the grade and actually learn to do the information. Mrs. Stucken is amazing because she is so supportive of the welfare of her students, and genuinely cares about each one of them. I'm very lucky to have them as teachers."
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys the life of any normal teenager, including hanging out with her friends. "I like to hang out with my friends and they're really supportive of me. I also love to hang out with my sister as well; she and I do a lot together."
In the future, Stephanie hopes to attend college at either UCLA or George Washington University, and plans to major in either Political behavior or Pre-Law Psychology. For a career goal, Stephanie, ever ambitious, says, "I want to go into the government, like the CIA, or become a lawyer.
Stephanie seems to be heading in all the right directions, and is bound to have a prosperous life, and not just because of her academics, but because of her general personality as become a lawyer.
Stephanie seems to be heading in all the right directions, and is bound to have a prosperous life, and not just because of her academics, but because of her general personality as well. Stephanie Ng is bound for great things, and society will surely benefit from her accomplishments.
