Senses Fail: Still Searching
by Neelofer Lodhy, Managing Editor

Senses Fail is officially in the house! They're finally back with their new album Still Searching released on October 10. After a long wait for the fans, which seemed like forever, they couldn't have given us a better album. The album is amazing, full of energy, and if you're lucky go out and get the special edition album that includes 16 songs, 3 of which are bonus acoustic songs. Also like they're previous album Let it Enfold You (2004), the album includes a DVD.
For a brief overview on the band, Senses Fail reigns from Ridgewood, New Jersey. They are heavily rated as punk, emo, hardcore, and screamo, and their influences go from bands like Thursday to Saves the Day. Senses Fail consists of Garrett Zablocki (guitar, back up vocals), Mike Glita (bass, back up vocals), Dan Trapp (drums), James "Buddy" Neilson (vocals), and new guitarist Heath Saraceno. Also for a brief discography of the band, they have previously released EP's and albums such as From the Depths of Dreams EP (2002), From the Depths of Dreams EP (re-release), Let it Enfold You (2004), Let it Enfold You (2005 re-release), and finally Still Searching.
The bands current singles off the new album include Calling All Cars for which they currently have a video out, and Can't Be Saved. The special edition albums contains 3 acoustic covers of the songs Can't Be Saved, Calling All Cars, and Lost and Found, which are all included on the album in a non acoustic version as well. This new album is so empowering because of the extreme vocals and screaming, and guitar riffs you wouldn't normally expect from the band.
Yes, there is a lot of screaming on this album. The screaming occurs most in songs like Sick or Sane, Shark Attack, To All the Crowded Rooms, and All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues. The songs also contain guitar riffs you would expect from Avenged Sevenfold. Believe it or not, it really sounds like it would be something in an Avenged Sevenfold song. These Avenged Sevenfold guitar riffs are found in songs like Sick or Sane, and Shark Attack. The album also contains a lot of slow and laid back songs such as The Rapture, Cant be Saved, Calling all Cars, To all the Crowded Rooms, Lost and Found, a short instrumental called Negative Space, and The Priest and the Matador.
Overall, the album is awesome, it's almost as good as their last album Let it Enfold You, maybe even better! You be the judge by going out and buying the album, something I greatly encourage all of you to do. Also if you are at all interested in any additional information about Senses Fail, visit them at www.sensesfail.com, or the very popular www.myspace.com/sensesfail. Senses Fail will be playing a couple of shows in LA and surrounding areas if anyone is at interested in seeing them. They are playing at The House of Blues in LA on December 15, and the House of Blues in Anaheim on December 20th and 21st. Opening bands include I Am The Avalanche, Bleeding Through, and Saosin. Believe me, these are definitely shows that you wouldn't want to miss, I know I don't!
