by Neelofer Lodhy, Managing Editor

Every Halloween it is customary to watch a great Halloween movie. Some people would rather go with The Nightmare Before Christmas, but others prefer to actually get poo scared out of them. The top 5 classic Halloween movies are Halloween, The Shining, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Dracula. These movies are Halloween classics you wouldn't want to miss?
Halloween is about a psychotic killer, Michael Meyers, who was put in an institution when he was younger because he murdered his sister when he was six years old after she had sex with her boyfriend. He escapes from the institution in which he was put in, and returns back to the town where people still remember of the murdering of his sister on Halloween.  Alex Heck claims, "It was pretty scary." Well, believe it or not, there is a bit of humor featured in this movie. It appears to be pretty funny watching Michael slowly walk around the town of Illinois trying to terrorize people.  Whatever the case may be, funny or scary, this is a definite must watch classic Halloween movie.
Next on the list of classic must watch Halloween movie is The Shining. The Shining, featuring Jack Nicholson, is about a family who heads to an isolated hotel for the winter. However, they are not aware that evil spirits are among them, and they are soon to be taken over by these evil spirits starting with the father played by Jack Nicholson influencing him into violence. He slips into violence as he is writing a project, and results in cabin fever. For those of you who hadn't figured it out or weren't aware of it, the band 30 Seconds to Mars filmed a video for their song called The Kill, which features the theme of The Shining. As the family starts to see more and more gruesome images, they start to go insane and eventually have a mental breakdown, This is a great movie to watch during Halloween.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is definitely a classic movie to watch on Halloween. It's about five friends going to visit their grandfather's old house. Little did they know, they were terrorized and chased by a chainsaw killer known as Leatherface. He receives the name Leatherface from cutting off his victims face and wearing it as his own. He does this maneuver frequently. The house they stopped by on the way turned out to be Leatherface's home which contained his demented cannibal family. He chases and terrorizes his victims using his favorite famous weapon the chainsaw. This movie was based on a true story, and will definitely scare the poo out of you.
Psycho is a classic horror movies known to humankind. This movie is about a lady named Marion Crane, who is extremely fed up with her lifestyle. Nothing seems to be going right for her. Her lover Sam and she scheme to start a new life in California. So, she packs up to go see Sam in Fairville, but decides to stop at a motel called, The Bates Motel, run by Norman Bates, a quiet man who is controlled by his mother. Exhausted, Marion decides to take a shower where she is brutally murdered by a psychotic killer. You figure out who it is by watching this great horror flick.
The most classic Halloween movie is Dracula. Dracula was made in the 1930sand is  about a man who enters Castle Dracula to finalize a business transaction. Dracula, in actuality is really a vampire. After sucking the blood of a woman by the name of Lucy Weston, and turning her into a vampire, Dracula turns his attention towards her friend Mina. Dr. Vanhelsing is sent to help Mina's deteriorating health and to stop Dracula. To find out what happens and to see if Mina is saved, I recommend watching this great classic horror movie.
All of these movies are classics and are great to watch during the month of October, or during Halloween. They're definitely movies you don't want to miss. If you choose to take a risk and watch these movies, I recommend watching them with someone close so you don't get too scared. I recommend that after watch these scary movies, you rent a calm movie like Garden State to keep you from getting nightmares.
