He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not
By Lena Hedayat, Staff Writer

A girl may think she is doing the right thing, when really he is walking farther and farther away from her. Many girls have found themselves in this very position, and did not see his small figure in the distance until it was too late. This can be prevented, of course.  First of all, she has to keep it to herself. She should not go telling every friend about the guy who helped her pick up her books after purposely letting them fall to the floor to get his attention. Most likely, the guy will find out about this, from one girl’s friend who happens to have a big mouth and impulsive actions. Imagine how that looks to him. She will end up scaring him off before he got started. Also, if one of the girl’s friends tells another, the tale may differ ever so slightly, therefore becoming dangerous if it starts to spread. This tends to happen around the lovely holiday that we have just experienced. No girl wants any of the horribly embarrassing rumors that could begin if she continues to talk about her new prince charming. She thinks it might be hard to prevent this, but it is not. It is actually really easy. All she has to do is keep her mouth closed. Secondly, it is not cute when the girl acts like she does not know what two plus two is. Playing stupid will get her nowhere. According to a senior, “Dumbing herself down, and making herself ditzier,” is not exactly an attraction. Girls think guys like it, when it really does nothing for him, and makes her look bad. Girls should be themselves, and not pretend. “Thinking she needs to be anyone other than herself- not being yourself and dropping any morals is a total turn off,” says a sophomore guy. And it is true. Think about when people are fake, how much it can actually bother someone. Many hate it. Well the same goes for relationships. The girl should be true to who she is.
Picture a guy sitting in class. Suddenly he sees that he has received a text message on his phone. Oh no. It is from that girl who has been following him all over for the past week. She somehow managed to get his number, and now she has gone as far as to message him during class. He made it very obvious that all he wanted was to be left alone. It seems his attempts failed. He decides to see what she wants. The message reads, “Hey what are you doing?” Well, on a typical school day, during class, what does she think he is doing? Unless the rare situation of getting sick, going home, etc. has occurred, he is probably sitting in his seat. If it is not important, just don’t bother. That goes into the category of overdoing it. He can live without a documentary of that girl’s day. A Junior commented, “Some girls just don’t listen.” Well it’s one thing when he keeps trying to tell her to back off and she pays no attention, but then it leads to another when the guy sees something in the girl, and tries to talk to her. If she just decides to blow him off when he is trying to talk because she is so caught up in other things, such as waving and talking to every friend that walks past them, he might become mad or bored and give up on her.
Being too readily available to a guy can sometimes appear desperate. For instance, if the girl is always doing “nothing” every time he calls, the guy may think she either has no life, or will do anything in order to be with him. This may not go over very well if she has just met him. He might come to think she’s a little obsessed. A freshman girl says as advice to others, “Don’t lie,” about anything, such as age, name, past relationships, or other things. If the truth gets out, it could be worse than if the girl had just been honest in the first place. Lying about one thing will lead to lies about another, and then it will just turn into a huge disaster. If she’s still in a good spot, and can see him only a few yards away, than she should keep it cool. Acting like she cares, but not too much. Talking now and then, but not bothering. If he wants to take it a step further, he might. If her guy has disappeared from sight, she should lay low for a while, and not do anything. He might come back one day, or never. It’s all up to her.
