Senior Spotlight: ASHLEY DANIELLE MORRIS
By Zack Roddy, Editor-in-chief

When you first meet Ashley Morris, one of the first things you notice is her personality. This girl can make you laugh, and in just about any situation, and with this personality trait, she is able draw people towards her. With this on her side, Ashley is endearing to all types of kids in El Segundo High School, building strong and lasting friendships for herself and others too.
Ashley Danielle Morris was born October 19, 1988 in Torrance California, and now currently resides in Gardena, with her mother, Debra, and father, Ronald. Ashley also has two older siblings, Renettra, who is twenty five, and Joshua, who is twenty one. Ashley's first year in the El Segundo School District, began four years ago when she was a freshman. "I have been going to El Segundo for four years. Coming to El Segundo was crazy. I definitely did not want to come here (no offense to El Segundo people), but I was just scared because I was coming to a new school where I knew absolutely no one", states Ashley, "It was definitely not my first choice to come here, but I am so happy that my parents forced me to come here, because I love everyone and everything in this school."
As far as school activities are concerned, Ashley has jumped at the chance to participate in all kinds. Sports, clubs, you name it, Ashley has probably tried it. "I have been in volleyball for four years, and was on the varsity team this year. The team was really great, and all of the people are wonderful, the girls had me dying laughing." Ashley has also tried an array of other sports, including track for one year, shot-put, and soccer for three years, on which she has also been a team manager for three years. "All of the girls are hilarious, and we all love Coach Juan!", says Ashley. And finally I started a club called C.R.A.S.H.- Community Raising Awareness To Support Humanity. I started the club to raise money for children in Africa who lost their parents to AIDs. It was for a good cause and I was so proud to be a part of it."
When asked to cite her inspirations, Ashley hesitated. "Inspiration is definitely a hard one", she says. "First of all, my number one inspiration is God.  Next is my family. They are always there for me, and I truly appreciate that.  Lastly come my friends, some of my greatest inspirations of all!" In her spare time, Ashley loves to hang out with her friends and go to the movies. As far as friends go, Ashley states, "I hang out with just about everyone. I have friends on the girl's basketball and volleyball teams and within the senior class in general. I would have to say that Joshua Newsom is my very best friend, and he has been there for me throughout everything."  And there is one special thing that Ashley cannot start end her day without. "Jamba Juice! I go there every day; it is one of my hobbies!"
In the future Ashley hopes to Attend San Diego State University and major in education and minor in psychology. "When I grow up, I would like to be a teacher or a Child's psychologist. I really like kids; they are definitely the greatest people to be around. It has always been a passion of mine to work with kids when I'm older."
Ashley Morris has definitely been a great contribution to El Segundo High School, and will become a great asset to society in the future. With her ability to draw so many people towards her, Ashley will have no problems finding her way through life. She had this last thing to say to all freshman, sophomores, and juniors. "Don't get caught up in all the drama of high school. You have a lot to offer, so if somebody tells you different, ignore them, because you are amazing by being the very person you are. Stay true to yourself. Dare to do what you want and feel how you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
