Girls Soccer

The girl’s soccer team is doing pretty well this season. Their league record is currently 4-3, and their overall record is 9-10. Juan Mosquera, the head coach says, “ The girls are playing very well and hard. This is our rebuilding year. We mostly have young players, which are ready to work hard. Our team is very competitive, and if I had to choose a MVP, I would choose the team!” The girl’s soccer team has a lot of heart and a competitive spirit.

On January 18, the girls played Redondo High. Though the Eagles played hard, they lost 3 to 0.  The Eagles were plagued by sickness; their two Varsity goalies were ill and they had to play with a JV goalie.  Assistant Coach Dale Shelton said, “We played very tough in the first half.  They scored none of their goals in the first half.”  The Eagles were also playing a little out of their weight, considering that Redondo is a very good team.  They were still disappointed at having lost, though.

Though the record may not show it, the Eagles have a good team, with many good players.  Mosquera said, “Our defense is the strongest aspect of our team.  Megan Gilbert has proven to be a very good player as the sweeper.”  Hopefully the Eagles will win many more games this season.
