In order to gain a conservative perspective, a questionnaire was sent out
to two teachers who have proclaimed themselves, proudly, to be
conservative socially, economically, and politically. Mr. Kerker and Mr.
Wood answered seven questions each.
The first question asked was what being a
conservative means to those who have the belief. Mr. Kerker: “Being
conservative to me means being an honest, courageous, loyal American, who
works for justice and equality of opportunity on a level field of play
with a small efficient government… promoting individual
responsibility.” Mr. Wood: “To stand for the preservation of
traditional moral values, the sanctity of family, individual rights…
freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights, the preservation of the US
Constitution in its original form… an equal balance between individual
liberty and communal interests… minimum amount of governmental control
and a strong free-enterprise economy. To avoid freeloading such as
excessive welfare dependence and other “hand-out” politics. To require
individual accountability of all citizens.”
For a look into the core beliefs held by
conservatives, the questionnaire asked exactly what values and beliefs
they hold. Mr. Wood dove right in, saying that conservatives believe,
“All citizens have equal right regardless of their particular views.
Separation of church and state does not condone persecution of religion by
the state, including our public schools. Atheism and liberal politics
should not be awarded a disproportionately powerful voice… Atheism is
not the absence of religion, it is a religion in itself. Liberalism is not
the most tolerant and therefore superior viewpoint, it is the promotion of
a specific and very well-defined agenda.” Mr. Kerker said, “I, like
most conservatives think O.J. is a murderer… Only liberals are glad he
got off unjustly. I believe in all of the Constitution… Most liberals
think gun-control is a big crime solution… Conservatives believe in
criminal-control and in the right to arm themselves to prevent crime.”
What is a simple motto you assign to
conservativism? Mr. Wood: “some things must be held universal and
unchanging, else all is a war of opinions. Change for change’s sake is
ultimately self-defeating and can only end in destruction for our nation.
If you keep on pushing the envelope, eventually it will burst.” Mr.
Kerker: “Each individual is responsible and accountable for producing a
life of increasing growth in wisdom, in productivity, in learning, in
honest work, in service and generousity, and in loving nurturing family
relationships obedient to the laws of God and lawful societies.”
To link conservatives with a political body,
the stance of the two teachers was polled. Both basically said that they
usually both vote Republican, but that they always look for the candidate
who best falls under their beliefs, regardless of political title.
A proper perspective of their beliefs must
also include what these two teachers think about liberals. Mr. Kerker
summed up not only his belief about liberals but liberals’ belief about
everything: “Most liberals look to the governments to solve problems in
society even while knowing that the government is inept and horribly
counter-productive time after time!! Most liberals have a pessimistic view
of human nature and thus fail to trust individuals or to require personal
responsibility/accountability. Most liberals like huge debilitating
lawsuits, big taxes and bigger government. Most liberals vote for higher
and higher taxes, and for bloating bureaucracies to run wasteful services
on a federal level (education, health services, housing, etc.) which can
only best be run at the local levels closer to the needs. You just know it
had to be a liberal jury that would vote to award a thirty year smoker
fifty million dollars because he got cancer… conservatives would have
voted zero dollars or would have sought to throw out the lawsuit on common
sense grounds. Don’t ever expect liberals to apply much common sense
when there are ‘deep pockets’ to be picked. Most liberals see honest
corporate assets as a source of larger taxation and redistribution… They
tend not to respect the money and thus the property of others… you know,
just plain old whiney jealousy! I could spell out hundreds of other
obvious cases of delusional liberal practices.” Mr. Wood wrote a bit
more on the accusative side “I believe that mainstream liberalism today
is not the noble enterprise that it used to be. It has ceased to be a
genuine defense of the common man and has become the puppet of would-be
Machiavellian princes who seek to dupe the masses into believing that they
are their champions and thus create psychology of dependence on government
in order to amass personal power. It has become a witch-hunting
anti-establishment band wagon that has no respect for the democratic
equality of opposing political views and which uses sensationalism without
restraint to persuade people to its position. It has become a vanguard of
nihilism and amoralism, fed by a brand of pseudo-intellectualism which
asserts that being white, male, rich, religious, or straight is a crime
that con only be atoned for by renouncing all such identities and becoming
a self-hating activist to build a new-world order of totalitarian
bureaucratic government, communist style economics and social programs,
state-endorsed atheism and fem-nazi-ism, and the complete absence of
sexual morality, a society where liberal dogma is pumped via
sensationalistic state-controlled electronic media into the minds of a
chemically and sexually addicted public.” |
