Where are our Civil Liberties?

Civil Liberties? As an Anglo-Saxon male, I have nothing very pressing to complain about. If I had to choose something concerning civil liberties to complain about, though, it would be the treatment of minors in school. Now, I don't really care about all that searching lockers stuff and censoring of the Internet; I take a broader approach. To be frank, I think school should be optional.

I suppose I should put some restraints on this. First off, children under twelve should be forced to go to school, as they have not yet received the physical education necessary to become semi-productive members of society. Secondly, people like me should not be given this option. It's the Dead Weight that should be given this option (heck, they shouldn't be given the option to leave school, they should be forced to.) Some may ask, "What are they to do with this bounty of free time?" "Are they just to sit around and do drugs, drink alcohol, and fornicate all of the time?" No. They are to become, as stated above, semi-productive members of society. To define what a semi-productive member of society is (as some of them may be reading, if they have retained that skill), a person who is capable of doing little above the bare minimum required of a Homo Sapiens. These people should be forced to work, doing 'whatever they're able to do' to help further society.

Dead Weight, and this does not refer to the stupid or the lazy, but the willfully incompetent, is that group of people sitting in the back of the classroom, examining their nose-pickings, rather than subscribing to the glorious enlightenment coming their way from the teachers. They are indifferent to the multitude of majestic epiphanies that are stated to us undeserving recipients by those founts of knowledge that we call teachers. These students, who have no realization of the sheer greatness of their teachers, do nothing but disrupt the learning environment, leaving all of the students who could actually become productive members of society disenchanted with the human race. These people, who could have possibly contributed something to society, go on to become bitter, angry hermits, who are, unfortunately intelligent enough to make bombs and acquire weapons. Dead Weight does not directly commit violent acts; but it is, most assuredly, the cause of them.

As anyone not of the Dead Weight category can see, civil liberties of minors would be greatly advanced if school were optional. Many don't seem to realize that school is a plus, it's a bonus. I thank my gods for every day they bless me with the utter joy and ecstasy of learning. If I couldn't come to school everyday, and see the smiling, joyful visages of my teachers and classmates, I don't know what I would do with myself. Every day at school is a blessing The Dead Weight ruins this experience for all. Now, I'm not quite sure if this really applies to "civil liberties" but it is something about which I felt others needed to know. Oh, also, I'm all for the repeal of that infamous and misanthropic 19th Amendment. It goes against the natural order of things.
