Carlo Diy is one of the most exceptional seniors in the class of 2002. Not only is Carlo super smart, he also plays numerous sports, takes 3 AP classes, and manages to be a totally awesome, down-to-earth individual. During his four years at El Segundo High School, Carlo has maintained a steady 4.2-4.3 G.P.A, taking as many honors classes as he can. Carlo is currently enrolled in AP Physics, AP Calculus, and AP English. Carlo is the starting goalie of the El Segundo Boys' Water Polo team, which is expected to be one of the best teams El Segundo has ever seen. This is his third year as a varsity goalie, and he leads his team with skill and enthusiasm. Carlo is the co-captain, along with teammate Riley Brady. The team boasts a record of 6-1, and is ranked in the top five for CIF Division III. In the winter, Carlo plays for the high school soccer team. He holds his defensive position strong, just as in water polo. In the spring, this multi-talented athlete also swims for the El Segundo High School swim team. Carlo competes in numerous relays and individually excels in butterfly. He has been named "Most Inspirational" two years in a row, an award that truly reflects the character of Carlo Diy. Carlo is one of the most inspirational students at our school, and is constantly striving to make change in the world. 

After high school, Carlo plans on attending a four-year university, preferably on the East Coast. He's considering Amherst University, Princeton, Harvard, and Yale. He's also applying to a select few of California Universities, as well as Claremont McKenna and Harvey Mudd University. Studying and year-round sports keep Carlo busy, but in his limited spare time he also knows how to have fun. Of course, like any other high school student, Carlo reluctantly admits that his favorite extracurricular activity is sleeping. Carlo is also an avid paintballer and goes paintballing whenever he gets the chance. However, he also loves just hanging out with his friends and watching movies like Braveheart or Pulp Fiction. Carlo is one of the most extraordinary people at El Segundo High School. He is one of the most hilarious people I have ever met, and has an incredible sense of humor. Although he may deny it, Carlo dressed up as a Playboy bunny one Halloween for a pool party and no one has ever let him live it down (the pictures are going to be his blackmail in the yearbook!). Carlo is a loyal, trustworthy, and true friend, and I feel lucky to have known him. He is always up for anything, such as almost getting run over by a speeding car (on purpose), and tripping over a pyramid of trashcans for a math video. Carlo is truly an awesome person, and ESHS will miss him next year. Carlo Diy is an individual that makes the world a better place.
