Well, it's that time of year again, school started, summer vacation
ended, and the summer movie phenomenon ends as well. Normally, over the
summer, teens get used to being able to go the movies whenever they want.
Now that we can only go on the weekend, don't you want to make the only
two days you have off are used to have fun?
A lot of great movies came out over the summer, some of which are
still playing in theaters. You had your adorable character in Legally
Blonde. Reese Witherspoon played your loveable character, Elle, in
this movie. You had to love her for her funny sayings and all her
fashionable outfits. You had your cool action movies with The Mummy
Returns and Rush Hour 2. The
Mummy Returns had the summer's best effects. Brendan Fraser, who plays
Rick O'Connell, does a lot more action moves than the first movie, The
Mummy. Rush Hour 2 was a hilarious action movie. You had Jackie
Chan playing your evil-fighting hero in this movie. You also had Chris
Tucker, who played your funny action hero.
El Segundo High Junior, Ashley Sturgeon says, "The
movie was really great. It was really funny."
You had your
'sitting-at-the-age-of-your-seat-while-biting-your-nails' movie with The
Others. If you enjoy the kind of movies that make you jump, then this
movie is a must-see for you. Make sure you hold your popcorn tightly
during this movie. The newly
released Rat Race has been a hit so far. I have seen it twice
already and I would love to see it again. One of the characters, Nick
Shaffer, played by actor Breckin Meyer, goes from not breaking any rules
and never taking any chances to rushing into relationships and running for
the money. Rat Race is about a group of randomly selected
characters who are offered $2 million to whoever finds it first. If you
love comedy, trust me and see this movie.
Now that the summer's over, you want to make the best of
movie-going, right? If you enjoy sport movies, Hardball, starring
Keanu Reeves is coming out September 14. The sneak previews are playing
now for this movie. The movie is about a man who gambles with his money
and ends up coaching a pathetic kid's baseball team. The movie's
soundtrack includes rap artists like Lil' Bow Wow and Lil' Zane. El
Segundo High Junior, Ryan Rice says, "I really liked Hardball.
I would defenitely recommend it to a friend."
Another movie coming out is Zoolander. This hilarious comedy
is about a male model who finds out why his fellow models don't live any
longer than 30 years of age. Now he has to stop that from happening. It
stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and David Duchovny. It comes out September
28.
If you a big fan of Mariah Carey, then Glitter is your
must-see movie in September. It's about a young girl who searches for a
singing career. She is finally pulled up on stage at a club by a man who
she eventually falls in love with. He just happens to be her ticket to
fame. He offers to produce her. In a few months time, she is a rising
star. But, will she forget
about the one who started it all for her? Find out September 14.
Big Trouble is based on a novel about a group of characters
who end up being involved in a very odd case. This crew includes Tim Allen
and Rene Russo. It will be released on September 21. The fall's romantic
comedy is out now. Summer Catch is about a baseball player who
falls in love with a young girl. However, will this affect his chance of
being a professional baseball player? This movie stars Freddie Prinze,
Jr., Matthew Lillard, and Jessica Biel.
Another movie coming out very soon is The Glass House. This
movie is about a young girl and her brother. Their parents die in a
terrible car crash. After that they are taken care of by their trustful
neighbors. But, how trustful are their neighbors? The children find out
that their foster parents are after their money. How will two children
escape their new parents and find safety? Find out September 14. So if you are sitting at home on a Saturday or Sunday, why don't you call up a few friends, head down to the theaters and see a newly released hit? I can tell you for sure that one of these movies is going to be much better than sitting at home watching re-runs of boring television shows.
