SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL MINUTES

October 20, 2005

OPENING

The meeting was held in the principal’s conference room and was called to order by Julie Busch at 3:07pm.

Present: Julie Busch, Susan Fowler, Lorena Kramer, Bob Pedersen, Kyle Bender, Marianna Tuchscherer, Chris Prengaman, Cheryle Ashley, Shannon Wilkins, and Kathleen Edwards (PTA Liason)

The minutes from September 29, 2005 were reviewed and changes were made. A motion was made by Marianna Tuchscherer to approve the minutes as amended. The motion was seconded and passed.

Cheryle Ashley was introduced, filling the classified position for the council.

NEW BUSINESS

REVIEW STUDENT TEST DATA

Shannon Wilkins led the discussion.

• We looked at the scores from last year’s English Language Development Test.
• We reviewed the 2005 Accountability Progress Report – School Summary; our API score was 861 (down 14 points from 2004). Our school has met the AYP in English-Language Arts and in Mathematics.
• We analyzed the STAR Testing Summary, looking closely at the performance levels in Math and Language Arts. Our school provides intervention groups for students that scored in the Below Basic & Far Below Basic categories in both areas. We also discussed the importance of student attendance for the testing.

PARENT SURVEY

• A sub-committee was put together for this year’s survey. The sub-committee members are: Susan Fowler, Bob Pedersen, Marianna Tuchscherer, Lorena Kramer, and Shannon Wilkins. The sub-committee will use results from last year’s survey to improve the one this year. The survey needs to be completed by February for implementation.

• The meeting was adjourned by Julie Busch at 4:11 pm.
• The next general meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 11/17/2005 at 3:00pm.
