Question was asked where do we get money for School Site Council comes from. Marisa explained all schools are allocated a certain amount each year based on budget the state thinks it has. Once the budget is approved the schools receive their budget. - Review of Student Test Data
Our students met our AYP goal in all subjects.
Our API (Academic Performance Index) scores went up to 887 (up 2 pts from last year) from last year and we went over our STAR (state report) comparisons from last year. There were a few questions on how we compared to schools in El Segundo and other South Bay Schools. We are a little below Richmond but comparable to other schools in the South Bay. There was talk about going onto the State website so that parents can see how we compared to other schools. The website is on the district website or the Star Report everyone got with their child’s information on it.
There was discussion on what things we have been doing to help our students improve their scores in the upcoming years. Principal and teachers talked about how we reviewed 4th and 5th grade standards to make sure we were meeting them. We are now using our Read Naturally Program 3 times a week with the 4th and 5th grade students in the computer lab with our Reading Teacher Kim Jones and Resource Teacher Ramona Millar. We will be looking into the California Modified Assessments for our Special Day Students and ELL Students. We also talked about bringing in projects from outside the school that will work with community organizations to help our students.
