  2. Old Business:

    ELAC Committee
ELAC committee met-Marisa shared that eight parents of English language learners showed up in addition to teachers. It was very productive. Alejandra Kaiser agreed to be the parent representative for DELAC at the district.

    Distinguished School
Marisa also shared information about our successful visitation for Distinguished School. The visitors had very favorable comments about our school! It was a tough year to apply; the application process was very rigorous. The award dinner is on May 16th. Richmond St. School also got the award..

  3. New Business:

    School Site Parent Survey
The comments were overwhelmingly positive and criticism was largely constructive. We took some time as a council to look over some of the survey comments. There was some discussion about going "green" with Cougar News to avoid wasting paper. Question was posed about finding out how many hits we receive online to get some idea of how many people are utilizing the computer.

    School Goals
Marisa went over the school goals for 2007-2008. There was some discussion on ways to improve parental involvement such as involving students more, getting teachers to personally invite parents to functions, providing childcare activities and scheduling events for earlier in the year. We heard briefly about RTI and utilizing a learning center model in the future to assist more students in need. The science goals will be changed to focus on math in the coming year. Goals in Language Arts-specifically writing will remain in place. Last, we discussed school climate and the need to raise student and parent awareness of differences and the need to promote tolerance

We voted to publish the survey results by voice approval. Motion made to approve proposed Center Street Goals. Donna motioned; Elise seconded.

  4. Meeting adjourned at 4:17 p.m.
