1. Opening
   Meeting was called to order by SSC President Susan Fowler at 3:10 p.m. in the conference room.

2. Discussion about Art/Music/PE Grant
   The money available for these three subject areas was discussed. Bain Walters (PE) and Rebecca Wright (Music) presented their proposals about how to spend these funds. Bain talked about a dance system (similar to Wii) which would be great for rainy days and get students actively moving. Some questions were asked regarding available technology to support this. Elise suggested the purchase of 5 extra class sets of pedometers, and Lynette mentioned that batteries would also need to be purchased to keep the pedometers running.

   Rebecca proposed buying a class set of ukeles to add more instrumental music to her program in addition to the recorders. There was also conversation about art since the monies cannot be used for consumables and must be used for permanent items. Perhaps videos about artists would be useful. It was suggested that grade level meet to brainstorm some ideas.

   Elise moved to approve the proposals presented. Kathleen seconded and a voice vote approved.

3. Parent Subcommittee
   Parent subcommittee looked at the school survey. Emily had done some research on pedometers to be used as a reward for students whose parents completed the survey. The best price was $1.95 offered by a company here in El Segundo.

   Surveys are ready to launch. SSC committee members need to email vote approving surveys.

   Cheryl moved to approve money (not to exceed $600) to be spent on pedometers and Renee seconded the motion followed by voice approval.

4. Parent Meeting about Reading Night
   Kim Jones shared information on the parent reading night that she was offering. There were questions about times.

5. Meeting Adjourned at 4:23 p.m.
   Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 28^th at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Room.
